The Sea
The sea is a nomad
Wandering from land to land
Destined never to rest in pools
Or to find eternal calm.
The sea is pushed and pulled
By the moon, the wind and sun
Unseen forces that drag
Saltwater onto terra firma.
The sea is an emotional being
Sometimes agitated and violent,
Sometimes temporarily calm
And inviting others to journey.
The sea is a keeper of secrets
Locked deep in the dark oceans
Forever hidden from view
Never to reach the surface.
The sea has carried desperate ones
Fleeing for a better life
Away from war, poverty or hate.
Some it saves and some it drowns.
The sea is a mirror of our lives
Ever swirling, ever shifting sand
And sometimes we must journey too
And sometimes leave the land.
